While many are now in progress of redevelopment and reconstruction, finding a means of livelihood remains the greatest challenge to most. To alleviate the poverty issues faced by the survivors, small self-sustaining business ventures have been developed and have been proven to be a great success
Digital Printing In Meulaboh & Banda Aceh
This business is the only one of its kind, established in the main town of Meulaboh. Since its inception in 2007 and fully funded by Touch Ministry Singapore the venture has received work orders from various schools and companies in Meulaboh. Currently, 2 local villagers are employed to help run the shop. This business venture has the capacity to employ more as the business expands, thus creating employment for the locals.
Services of digital printing including printing of any photos, pictures, slogans or words on pins, clock, t-shirts, mugs, posters, calendar tailored to customers’ needs and requirement. By end '08, it is on its way to self-sufficiency. We are currently planning to set up another digital printing livelihood project in Banda Aceh. We intend to set up similar ventures in major towns/cities of other countries located within the 10/40 Window.
Mattress Making

As many new houses are being rebuilt now in Aceh, refurnishing of their new homes with this beautiful and comfortable mattress is gaining popularity, and becoming a necessary and common item. There is a sizable market for such mattresses in Aceh and also in many other parts of Indonesia.
At such we plan to set up a small mattress making factory in Aceh. This livelihood project would have the potential to create employment for locals villages.
Currently we are seeking for a reliable, trustworthy and capable person to manage the factory
Bakery Business
Bread is a common staple for the locals in Banda Aceh and the surrounding villages. Six weeks of trial project from Feb to April 08 received more than 4,000 orders for the cakes and bread the team made. Due to the lack of resources -space and equipment, the team was able to meet 1,000 orders only. Besides having such a business enterprise in the main town, the team is also conducting baking classes to teach and train more local women with baking skills. Right into 6 months of business, it is already into self-sustaining.
Our long term goal is to develop a chain of bakery livelihood projects across major cities and villages of Aceh
